Teten Masduki, the Minister of cooperatives and small and medium enterprises (UKM), explained that the memorandum of understanding was established due to the realization that over 50% of the products in Indonesia's online market were imported. To safeguard the domestic e-commerce market and support local businesses, these platforms have mutually decided to cease importing from China. This measure aims to protect small and medium-sized enterprises while still upholding the principle of free trade.
